Thermal activation

Thermal fluctuations can be studied by adding a fluctuation term $\mbox{\bf H}_{\mbox{\scriptsize th}}$ to the effective field. Its statistics are assumed to follow a Gaussian distribution with zero average and its variance being proportional to the temperature. This approach assumes that the fluctuations of the thermal field are not correlated.
